When should you see a General Dentist?

The condition of your teeth and gums affects how you speak and communicate, your eating habits and even your confidence. For those reasons, patients should see a general dentist at least once time a year. Annual exams can prevent problems down the road. You should schedule with a general dentist if you have tooth and gum pain, your gums bleed easily or are swollen or you have a sore that won't go away. If your teeth become sensitive to heat or cold, you may want to see a general dentist.

What is General Dentistry?

Aside from overall management of your oral health, a general dentist can provide a number of services. Those include dental exams, preventive care, fillings, crown, veneers, bridges and root canals. Additionally, general dentists interpret x-rays, provide oral cancer screenings and can provide referrals when specialized treatment is needed or beyond the scope of general oral healthcare.

What is a General Dentist?

A general dentist provides primary oral healthcare. General dentists have completed at least four years of dental school, passed board exams and hold licenses to treat patients. A general dentist's priority is your overall oral healthcare needs.
